If a slide is taken out of a lecture, why can’t I shift all the audio up?

It's true that you can't shift the audio up or down in one go, but in Audio Notetaker you can shift the slides up and down instead, which should solve your problem.

For example, if the lecturer skipped a slide, you can drag the top edge of the next slide up over the skipped one, and Audio Notetaker will move it up along with all the ones below it.

Don't forget you can also move audio around by dragging and dropping it rather than cutting and pasting - just drag to select a range of chunks, then move the cursor over the highlighted area and drag and drop to where you want them to go.
