Silences in Audio Notetaker are in chunks too. They are just not normally visible!
All silences are split equally between the preceding and following Audio Chunks and can be edited in two ways:
With your cursor in a silence select Split chunk from the Audio Side bar or press Ctrl T (Cmd+T on Mac).
This will display an 'empty' chunk. The closer the audio cursor is to the blue chunk the bigger the silence chunk created; you may need to do this several times to create all your required silence chunks (you can select them and merge them once created, into a single chunk).
Once you have your empty chunks you can cut, copy, paste, delete and merge in the normal way. You can also colour your silences in the normal way.
You can select multiple audio chunks and select 'Trim silence' from the Audio Side Bar. This will reduce all silences in the selected sections to no more than 0.8 seconds.
You cannot use Trim Silence with silences that have been made visible (see above).
This image shows a short section of audio.
The 7 seconds of silence, in the middle, has been made visible using Split chunk. The silence can be split in any position but the image above shows the 3.5 seconds associated with the audio chunk either side.
These silent chunks can be edited in the normal way.
Trim Silence would reduce each section to 0.4 seconds resulting in a 0.8 second overall silence.
